How many classes should you do and why.

Today I am going to break down how many classes you should be doing and why.

I always get asked "How many classes should I do?" Now 90% of that depends on you. The remaining 10% depends on me having an available spot in the class.

First you need to ask yourself why are you wanting to attend classes. Is it because you have a goal or is it because you just need an hour to yourself during the week where you do something that is just for you.

Lets say you just want to get out of the house one night during the week. You want to do some relaxing exercise and enjoy a good chat. In this situation I would totally recommend one class per week. That is totally fine and very sustainable.

One class per week is also a great way to ease yourself into a new form of exercise.

Now lets say you want to increase your flexibility and get stronger then I would recommend two classes per week. It is realistic and maintainable even when you have a busy life. You will be able to see progress faster and be able to move into the harder exercises a lot quicker.

Three classes per week is a commitment. Now if you are active it will be normal for you to do exercise at least three times a week. However not everyone needs to do three classes per week. It all depends on your main goal, What you enjoy doing ? What fits in with your lifestyle? Do you have kids?

Here are a few different reasons to do three classes per week.

  1. It could be your version of self care (exercise is a great form of self care)

  2. You have a strong goal in mind (lets say a wedding to feel your best at)

  3. You are already active and you want to give yourself some variety

  4. You love the social aspect of class so you want to come and see everyone (you social butterfly)

  5. You just love seeing me haha

The last one was a joke but in all honesty I love seeing you all on a regular basic.

I have seen a trend in my clients and how they book. Most start off with one class per week for the term then they increase to two classes per week for the following term. This is a perfect way to really test out if Pilates is for you and get a slower introduction to the exercises and how they work.

Some clients love to take the plunge and just straight in to two and even three classes a week. I appreciate you. You are excited for all your classes and I love seeing that. I try my absolute best to keep it interesting during every class while also giving you a challenge.

Everything takes time but you are not alone. Consistence is key.
