Are you sleeping enough?

Updated: May 5, 2021

How much is to much?

Do you wake up feeling alive and ready for the day or would you love to hit snooze and roll back over and go to sleep?

When you go to sleep you allow your body and mind to recharge. This also helps your body stay health. When you don’t get enough sleep your brain cannot function to it’s full potential.

Did you know most adults require 7 to 9 hours sleep!? I know I’ve been averaging 5-6 hours per night the past few months. I don’t even know if I can sleep for 9 hours!

Now there is a lot that can cause us to have a crappy nights sleep but to name a few that can impact our sleep is - day to day stressors, disruptive bedroom environment (those darn parties down the road) and medical conditions can all so prevent you from having a full nights sleep.

So how can you get a better nights sleep?

Well there are a few things you can do...

Now I know you don’t want to hear this but you need to put the devices down. Hard I know but the blue light in your phone or tv actually keep you up later! If you like to scroll on your phone before bed or watch a show I have a solution for you and no it’s not reading a book... nothing is wrong with reading a book but personally it’s not my thing to relax my mind.

Now for the device users! I know you’re reading this...

Have you heard of blue light blockers? To keep it simple you can get glasses that block blue light coming through to your eyes! I have them, they are amazing especially when I’m on my laptop working for long periods of time! No headaches! LIFE CHANGING!

Also if you want to go for a deep dive into your settings you can also turn off the blue light on most devices. I’ve figured out how to do it on my iPhone (turn on your night shift setting) and I’m 99% sure you can do it to computers and laptops pretty easily but I just put on my glasses for that one.

TVs on the other hand I’m not that technical so if you know someone that is definitely hit them up and let me know how it goes!!

Another thing to do to help get you into a deeper sleep faster - have a night routine! As in shower, put your moisturiser on and your face cream then hop into your nice comfy bed and fall asleep.

Bonus tip - a pretty and cozy room always helps so I now give you permission to dash off to Kmart or go shopping to make your bedroom your favourite place in your house!
