Yoga VS Pilates

I like to say Pilates is the middle ground between yoga and the gym. Pilates is similar to yoga, but Pilates is different as it requires you to put your body in unstable postures and challenges you to move your limbs at the same time. Yoga is made up of a series of static postures.

For example one Pilates exercise requires you to start by lying on your back, with bent knees and both feet on the floor. This would then involve straightening one leg so that your toes point to the ceiling, and using the other leg to slowly raise and lower your body. You need tight abdominal and buttock muscles to keep your hips square, and focused attention to stop yourself from tipping over. By doing this exercise it enables you to improve your concentration and body awareness.
